Flower Flesh was born in 2005 with the intention of giving life to a band that has an original and personal sound, but they don't want to omit the Progressive Rock sound, with influences of band from the '70s up to the present, marrying perfectly with classic Hard Rock. The first song, "Falling in Another Dimension" presents a beautiful sound, warm voice, good riffs and solos. The psychedelic part in the background is intresting too, as "My gladness after the sadness", with typical progressive rock sounds: a touching song that will thrill and dream you. Another interesting track is "The Race of My Life", the only song divided into five movements. The album terminates with the sombre, sad and gloomy "Scream and Die." Great album for this young band: five musicians who have succeeded in their intent, the album contains a lot of sounds and influences, so I recommend it to lovers of beautiful Progressive Rock. Devastating Thrash Metal band from Vancouver (Canada), they're the incarnation of the old band known as "Skull Hammer". Debut album strongly characterized by "sharp and lightning" riffs, great solos and vocals in perfect harmony. From the first track you can notice the speed of the band, adding some Groove influence that makes the work in Anthrax-style. The bass has a warm and solid sound, a dirty voice, a young and current sound. The best track of the album is "Legions of the Dead", with an intro similar to that of "Leprosy"(Death), and this suggests that the band has a wider knowledge of what it looks like. Worthy band, due to perseverance and determination they've achieved a good result. RATING: 7/10 -SADIK- [-Mara-]
Dismantle is a Thrash metal from Los Angeles, one of the most important of their city. Due to the change in the line-up , the album comes to life, it contains power and speed, without forgetting the technique and the audio quality. Already in the first track you can understand their style, starting from the lower sounds they increase more and more until becaming imperative and invasive. "Enter the Forbidden" presents fast riffs and complex perfectly produced by a powerful battery. The "Real of Warmaster" intro is really compelling while "Illusion" surprises the listener with catchy and very exciting riffs; "Dwelling (In The Darkness) starts like a ballad, but then clearly expresses the skills and inventive of the band. Great and recommended album.
Axehammer is an old Power / Heavy Metal band; born in the 80s, they detected immediately many problems, in fact their first demo was released in '95.10 years later they released their first album, "Windrider." Now here's "Marching On", an album much more technical and faster than the previous. The album begins with "Walk Into Fire", a song with the classic riffs that characterize the band, a sound very similar to "Windrier", but everything is faster. Other tracks of note are "The Dragons Fly" and "Midnight Train", reminding heavy old bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. "Fire Away" riff vaguely Speed / Thrash; "Demon Killer" is the classic stereotype of Heavy / Power of the late 80s. Axehammer is one of less active band of the history; They overcame many difficulties making huge strides and are worthy to emerge. Exceptional band. RATING: 7/10 -SADIK- [Mara-]
Betrayer F.T.M. is a Thrash / Speed Metal band with Nwobhm influences; they come from Colombia. This is their debut album, characterized by high speed and power, thanks to a superb drummer. The first track is a blend of power, speed and pure adrenaline, old school riffs and solos, in some moments you can hear the excellent performance of the bass; perhaps the only flaw is the lauder sound of the voice than the instruments. "One Day of Fury has a catchy refrain, excellent battery performance, with extremely fast steps. A return to theirself homeland in "La Orden of Chaos", sang in Colombian (indeed, Spanish), guitar and drums in complete harmony. Another great song is "Infernal Metal", good refrain and great riffs. Great band, one of the best Thrash Underground Bands I've ever heard.
Misere Nobis is a Depressive Black Metal band from Rome. The quartet debutded without producing any Demo or EP, so their debut album is an error-free album, as usually. The disc starts with "Mors Omnia Solvit", a superb song with well executed riffs, the battery isn't limited to the classic pounding but also it varies with different steps of cymbals and drums. "I implore Meam FINEM" is as good as the previous, initially melancholy, it becomes a track with anger and pain, exasperated voice similar Nattramn (Silencer). The other songs enrich even more the album, presenting despair, sadness and hatred, but with a constantly high technical level. Misere Nobis is a great and charismatic band, I would venture to define it as a masterpiece. RATING: 8.5 / 10
"Controsigillo" is a particular and interesting Thrash/Death metal band from Vercelli. This is an intriguing album with sounds related to the theme of the song with a perfect instrumental piano; the only flaw is the pronunciation. The second track, after the melancholic intro, is "Crop Circles": an adrenalinic song with hypnotic vocals and guitars that make mental mysterious travels, with aliens and UFO. The next track is perhaps the most personal of the album: good riffs, excellent performance by the drummer and the bassist. As good as the previous track, "Arabian Chaos" is a song replayed for this album. The opening riff reminds me a little the song "Shrift" by In Case Of Carnage, Death sounds, improved pronunciation, perfect intonation and a surprising acute at about 2.30. "Chernobyl" is an interesting song, with riffs resembling sirens (to commemorate the disaster of 4/26/86), with atmospheres that remember to me King Diamond .. Another track replayed for the album is the next, with an amazing solo at about the 2nd minute. The penultimate song is "Lupin 3 e il cubo di rubik", obviously done for the classic manga "Lupin". The last track of the album is a bonus track-live: "Infected Oxygen." After the first listen it may be hard to understand the band, but if you listen this album more times you'll see the beauty of this Italian band. RATING: 6,5/10 -SADIK- [-Andrea, Mara-]
Psygnosis is a band formed in 2009. After their EP "Phrases", they've the same musical line and in 2012 here's the new album "Anti-Sublime". It's band very hard to describe, personally I think they're a Prog Death experimental/Electro-Ambient band, but there are Alternative and Deathcore influences. The first track, "Phrase 2.11." (With built-in intro), presents typical sounds of Ambient, perfectly matched by the classic Death Metal, riffs following the battery; it can be said that the singer gets along well in clean, in addition to scream. The next track is perhaps the best of 'album, "Compression" has the typical Progressive Death, quite similar to the sound of the Edge of Health, good growl, but the Electronics parties are scarce. For the most of "FIIIX" you may feel the Electro-Ambient, it's an intense song , melancholic and expressive at the same time; you always feel the personal touch. The same goes for the next song, the album ends with "Liquid Nebuula", an excellent performance of battery, sharp riffs thrown; do not miss the classic power of Death. A band that could become impressive, original and strange. Surprising album.
Assaulter band was born in 2007 with the 'purpose of creating an hard and fast band Old School-style. In 2011, they come out with this EP, which gets very awe among fans, webzines and radio, even in Japan, is inserted into the top Underground output of 2011. The first track "Crushed by the Raging-Mosh" has good and very fast riffs in some moments, good the drummer who keeps pace with the guitars and good intonation with "duets" Pitiful Reign-style. Lightning performance of the bass player in the next track, breathtaking riffs, good the two tracks following too.
The last track of the album is "Beer!", a short but speed song, perfect riffs and drums well attached. Great Trash band Made in Italy, we're looking forward to the new album.
In case of Carnage is a Technical Death Metal band formed in 2009, in 2011 they began to record this first demo. It begins with the track "Endorphin Rush", good initial riffs, influences American-Death in recent years, two voices (male Growl and female Scream), evident skill of the drummer, fast and accurate (he's Giulio Galati, an interesting novelty of recent times). The album continue with "Horryfing Friends", influenced by Deicide style , a track that begins powerful and invasive, good performance of the bass player, riffs in classic style. The next song, "shrift" is the best in my opinion: : ruthless intro, noteworthy the bass hereafter. Last but very good track is "Two Sides of a Man", influenced by the Necrophagist style, note at about 3 minutes, an interesting part in Prog. Great band, they're being felt, they need support and we must give it to him! RATING: 6.5 / 10 -SADIK- [-Mara-]
Desecrate is a Progressive Melodic Death Metal band formed in Genoa in 1995; there was a long pause period after the release of their fist album, so the band hasn't performed for many years. In their songs there are a lot of instrumental breaks-Opeth style, the piano is used very often as the guitars. The first track of the album is "Croatoan": complex riffs, quick growl, a good performance of the bass, that you can often hear. After a completely instrumental track with the piano, here's "XIII": a good initial drum fill, a refrain perfectly pressed by guitarists. "Tzunami" is a power and melancholy track, but fast and furious. After a few songs, there's "Karma", a great song influenced by the Dark Tranquillity style. "My Devil's Gonna Cry" is good too, with many Prog Death parts. Last, but not the least important, is "The Illusion Gate", an interesting track with some purely Death and Melodic parts. Amazing album, we hope that there will not be other breaks for the band!
This is the Amaze Knight's first album. They're a Prog Metal / Rock band from Turin, formed in 2010. A concept album that describes emotions, thoughts and experiences of a young man who lives in a state of prison by his mind, but he's searching the key to his "mental freedom". The first track, "Imprisoned (shadows past)," is perhaps the most aggressive and unpredictable. As "incipit", an excellent drum fill followed by guitar riffs pressing on one side, and melodic on the other. Already in this first track are remarkable typical elements of prog, the voice influenced by the Queen's style, Dream Theather, Helloween and Symphony X. The next song, "restless soul", has great riffs while being more '"soft", a good and calm refrain with an air voice; that's a song that's characterized by the choice of an absolutely less present keyboard . The name of the third track of the album is "Hartless". That's the "ballad" of the album, and it's a very ambient sound thanks to the presence of strings, violins and piano. The first voice is the guitarist's voice, then recovery from the singer's. Track which ends with a very emotional guitar solo. The last 2 tracks could be combined into a one song, "Liberation (a new day)": 20 minutes of good listening, excellent rhythm guitar, beautiful solos and riffs, perfectly linked by the work of other instruments. Typical Prog album of high quality: 46 minutes and 58 seconds of quality and impressive Prog. VOTE: 8/10 -SADIK- [Mara-]
